Cameron M. Batjer was elected District Attorney without opposition in 1954, replacing Paul Laxalt. Mr. Batjer went on in 1967 to serve for many years as Justice and Chief Justice (1977-78) of the Nevada Supreme Court. He retired from the bench in November 1981.
